Heading Agent

What it does :

Heading agents are used to ensure a dense, creamy head with low gravity or extract beers, which may lack the proteins required.

What it is:

Heading agents are commonly made from polypropylene glycol alginate derived from seaweed. They are available in liquid and powdered form.

How it works:

Heading agents artificially increase the foaming action in the finished beer.

Dosage:

Add 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons. These are typically added at the end of the boil or at bottling time. Check the directions on the packaging.
